Dr. Segundo Lizardo

Dr. Segundo Lizardo was born in the Dominican Republic, a beautiful island located in the Caribbean, in La Vega, a town which is recognized internationally for the organization of the best carnival in the Caribbean.

Dr. Lizardo was raised by his grandmother, Juana Santos in San Francisco de Marcoris, Where she taught him perseverance,hard work and to follow his dreams without causing any harm to others.  She then became the most influential person in his life.  During his childhood and teenage years he was involved in sports,like baseball, basket ball and most importantly swimming.

During his high school senior year, while working as a volunteer at a local hospital, God guided him towards the road he would later pursue to become a doctor. He enrolled in medical school at Pontifícia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santiago de los Caballeros, where he was recognized for academic excellence, and participated as a teacher assistant, graduating magna cum laude with a degree of Doctor in Medicine in 1998.

After graduating from medical school Dr. Lizardo joined his medical school faculty as assistant professor until 2003 when he started his medical residency at Elmhurst Hospital Center, affiliated with Mount Sinai school of medicine Center in New York, graduating in June 2006. Dr. Lizardo is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, and recently was elected fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics in recognition for promoting the health of newborns, children and adolescents.

Since August of 2006, Dr. Lizardo and his family moved to Rio Grande Valley and established a pediatric medical clinic in the heart of Mercedes, Texas, where he is actively involved in his community and is a member of numerous prestigious professional organizations.  As part of his commitment to pursue excellence in pediatric health care, Dr. Lizardo is seeking Board certification in hospice and palliative medicine.  He currently has active privileges at Knapp Medical Center and Doctors Hospital at Renaissance.

Dr Lizardo is assistant professor for the department of pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Regional Academic Health Center ( UTHSCSA-RAHC) and also serve as an clinical professor for the University of Texas-Pan American-Physician Assistant program.

Dr. Lizardo married the love of his life Yabrina Rodríguez, MD., with whom he has formed a beautiful family, with their two sons, Luis José and Luis Alejandro.  The Lizardo-Rodriguez family has made the Rio Grande Valley their home, and love to spend time together with family and friends.

   

Anna M. Espinoza, PA-C

Physician Assistant Certified

Anna M. Espinoza-Garza was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. Her memorable teenage years were spent traveling up north as a migrant worker.  After graduating from Donna High School, Anna spent several years working as a pharmacy technician in a local Donna pharmacy. In 1991, she began her undergraduate studies at U.T. Pan American in Edinburg, Texas where she became involved in tutoring in science subjects and worked as a biochemistry laboratory assistant. This experience allowed her genuine interest in the medical field to evolve.

In 1996, Anna obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at U.T. Pan American-UTMB Galveston. After graduation, she spent six years in a family practice clinical setting. Since 2002, Anna has worked for RGV Adult & Internal Medicine where she transitioned from Family Practice to Internal Medicine. Anna is now actively practicing Pediatric Medicine at the Mercedes Children’s Clinic with Dr. Segundo Lizardo.
Anna has devoted most of her years as a physician assistant practicing in Mercedes Texas. She is committed to provide optimal health care to our pediatric, adolescent and teenage community.

When away from her office, Anna is fully devoted to her husband Arnold and her three beautiful daughters; Katerine, Victoria and Liliana.

   

Sandra Rodriguez, PA-C




Sandra Rodriguez was born and raised in a loving family from Brownsville, Tx. She graduated from Homer Hanna High school in 2007. She then graduated with honors from the University of Texas Pan American in 2011 where she received her Bachelor's in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. During her time at UTPA, Sandra worked as a teaching assistant for biology. Always having an interest in medicine, she decided to then pursue her Master's in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Texas Pan American and graduated in 2013.

Since graduating, she now works with Dr. Segundo Lizardo and staff in Mercedes, Tx at the Mercedes Children's Clinic.

Sandra now resides in Edinburg, Tx with her high school sweetheart and husband, Rodrigo, and her beloved basset hounds. She continues to strive to give the best possible healthcare to our pediatric community.

Leticia Serna, PA-C




Leticia Serna is native to the Rio Grande Valley and was raised in Mercedes, Texas. She graduated from South Texas High School for Health Professions in 2000. In 2004 she received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas-Pan American. Upon graduating from college she taught high school science for seven years. During that time she was Sub-Department Head and was involved in U.I.L. science and the teacher mentorship program.

In 2011 she was accepted in the Physician Assistant Studies Program at UTPA where she received a Master of Physician Assistant Studies. She joined the team in Mercedes Children’s Clinic in the summer of 2014, where she is happily serving pediatric patients from her hometown of Mercedes.

GABRIELA ALMEIDA IS A BOARD CERTIFIED PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT WHO GRADUATED FROM St. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY IN NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK IN 2010. SHE WAS BORN AND RAISED IN SAO PAULO, BRAZIL AND MOVED TO MIAMI, FLORIDA WITH HER FAMILY AT THE AGE OF TEN.

SHE GRADUATED FROM FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY IN 2007 WITH A BACHELORS OF SCIENCE IN BIOLOGY WITH HONORS, AND IS A MEMBER OF THE GOLDEN KEY INTERNATIONAL HONOUR SOCIETY, KNOWN AS THE WORLD’S LARGEST COLLEGIATE HONOR SOCIETY THAT CONSISTES OF ONLY THE TOP 15% COLLEGE STUDENTS BASED ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS.
